Kindergarten Teacher

Annette Marin

Annette Marin is our Kindergarten teacher. This is her 6th year in education. She’s had previous experience and training with exceptional children, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), and has worked with students ages Kindergarten – Fifth grade. She is a graduate of Ashford University with a Bachelor of Art in Psychology. She absolutely loves teaching kindergarten because of the curiosity and excitement for learning from 5-year old’s completely blows her mind. Prior to finding her true passion Annette loved to dance and had dreams of becoming a professional ballerina. Annette has been married for 20 years to her husband John. They have two sons Matthew (15) and Max (13) and a 1-year-old aussie-doodle named Zeus. They moved to Waxhaw in 2007 from New Jersey. On her free time, she loves spending time with her family and traveling. Disney is one of their favorite vacation spots.
Kindergarten Assistant

Jeri Lynn Porter

Jeri Lynne Porter is the Assistant Kindergarten teacher at Northpoint Christian Academy. In her role she provides support to the lead teacher by preparing daily activities, helping children participate in classroom activities and monitoring the well-being of the students. Previously she worked at other faith-based schools and has a total of 14 years of experience. Jeri Lynne was born and raised in Southern Maryland on her family’s farm. She currently resides in Indian Land, SC with her husband Steve and her two children Brooke (18) and Max (13). Jeri Lynne enjoys outdoor activities such as riding ATV’s, watching her son play baseball, spending time at the horse barn with her daughter and walking her two dogs, Zena and Vega.
First Grade Teacher

Kim Goodman

Mrs. Goodman teaches First Grade at NorthPoint Christian Academy. She attended UNCC to obtain her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She has been teaching for nine years. Her passion is teaching students to read and loves to see them succeed. Mrs. Goodman has two sons that enjoy playing multiple sports. The Goodman family enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors. Their favorite vacation spots are the beach and mountains.
First Grade Assistant

Beth Ballantyne

Beth Ballantyne was born and raised in New Jersey and moved to Waxhaw, N.C., after her husband retired from Verona police department. She is the mother of three children Tyler Marie (26), Joe (24), and Chris (17). Beth loves being with her family, doing crafts, and going on walks. Beth is the Assistant First Grade teacher at NorthPoint Christian Academy. In her role she facilitates a physical, emotional, and developmental care and education for the children by being a trusted, reliable resource to lead teacher. This is her first year in education. Beth is the great niece of the most decorated Marine to this day, John Basilone.
Second Grade Teacher

Janae Zaks

Mrs. Zaks is the Second Grade Teacher at NorthPoint Christian Academy. While she hails from the sunshine state, she grew up in Oklahoma. After high school, she attended seminary at Rhema Bible Church and graduated in Children’s Ministry. In 2002, Mrs. Zaks was offered the position of Children’s Minister in Naples, Florida. She held that position for five years while earning a Bachelor’s Degree from Florida Gulf Coast University. Mrs. Zaks recently relocated to North Carolina and has been teaching for 15 years. She is endorsed to teach English Language Learners and trained in Exceptional Student Education. She is currently pursuing a certification with NILD. When she’s not teaching, you can find her spending time with her family. She enjoys painting woodland creatures and landscapes. She has two children; Juliana (4th) and Aaron (1st). Both attend NCA and are thrilled to be part of the Nighthawk Family!
Second Grade Assistant/PE

Krissy Wunder

Mrs. Wunder serves as our second grade assistant and also teaches our Lower School Physical Education classes.
Third Grade Teacher

Laurie Knauth

Mrs. Knauth serves as our Third Grade Teacher at Northpoint. She loves her students and watching them grow throughout the year. We all affectionately call her "Mrs. K".
Fourth Grade Teacher

Sally Gemignani

Sally Gemignani teaches 4th grade at NorthPoint. She has taught 4th grade (her favorite!) for many years in CMS and UCPS public schools, as well as 5th grade at Weddington Christian Academy. Sally graduated from Queens College in Charlotte in 1998 with a degree in Elementary Education. In college, she was the president of her sorority and traveled to Italy, France and Spain. She is a preacher’s kid and has four amazing sisters. Sally and her husband, John, have been married for 20 years and have two daughters in high school who are growing up too fast. She attends Grace Presbyterian Church and loves to visit the beach and the mountains of North Carolina any chance she can. Everyone calls her, “Mrs. G.”
Art Teacher

Melissa Pugh

Mrs. Pugh teaches all of our art classes for Kindergarten - Sixth Grade. She loves transferring her passion for art and especially painting to each of her students.
Music Teacher

Elizabeth Haisler

Mrs. Haisler is our music teacher extraordinaire! Whether it's boomwhackers or a new song, it's always fun to walk by the Art Studio and hear our K-6th grade students exploring music!
Middle School Teacher

Angela Williams

Angela Williams is the lead teacher for the middle and upper school, along with teaching 5th and 6th grade math and science at NorthPoint Christian Academy. Angela has taught in upper elementary and middle school classrooms for a total of 12 years. She is grateful to have spent all of her teaching experiences in Christian education. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Dramatic Production from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. Angela met her husband, Brian Williams, in college and has been married for 24 years. She is the mother of three fun-loving kids; Nolan (20), Peyton (17), and Olivia (15). She enjoys spending time and vacationing with her family. On a rainy day, you will find Angela with a hot cup of coffee reading a good novel.
Middle School Teacher

Melissa Harding

Melissa Harding teaches 5th and 6th grade history and language arts at NorthPoint Christian Academy. She enjoys spending time traveling and vacationing with her family.
Upper School Science Teacher

Neal Huntley

Mr. Huntley teaches Science for our Upper School students. He most enjoys hands on experiments with the students and of course, his World Champion Atlanta Braves. He and his wife have a son and are soon expecting a daughter. Mr. Huntley also enjoys serving as Youth Pastor for his church.
Upper School Math Teacher

Christy Penner

Christy Penner is NorthPoint’s Upper School Math teacher. Her experience as a classroom teacher spans thirteen years and three countries. She has taught all levels of secondary math, from 7th grade through AP Calculus, and she worked for many years in international Christian schools in Russia and Germany. She has three college-age children, all of whom she taught in class at some point. When not teaching, tutoring, or working out math problems just for fun, Ms Penner enjoys running, kayaking, hiking, and serving in her church. She loves to travel, visit new places, and experience different cultures. She is excited to also be coaching Girls on the Run at NorthPoint this spring.
Upper School ELA Teacher

Amber Huntley

Amber Huntley teaches Upper School English Language Arts (ELA). She has six years of teaching experience at Piedmont Middle School where she also coached basketball for a few years with Coach Goodman and thoroughly enjoyed that time in her life. However, her priorities shifted a bit after she married Mr. Huntley (Upper School Science) and they had their first son, Graham. Now Mrs. Huntley loves spending her afternoons playing with Graham. Mr. & Mrs. Huntley are set to welcome their daughter in June and are extremely excited. Mrs. Huntley has loved getting to teach in a Christian school setting and loves the relationships she is able to build with students both academically and spiritually.
Upper School History Teacher/A.D.

Devin Goodman

Mr. Goodman is the Athletic Director and upper school History teacher at NorthPoint Christian Academy. He has worked in education for 12 years along with coaching for 11 years. In 2009, he began his career working for UCPS and worked as an Athletic Director for 6 years. His passion is teaching youth lifelong skills through sports. Mr. Goodman is extremely excited to work with NorthPoint Christian Academy to build a strong program that is focused on education and the students’ well-being. He loves to be outdoors and spending time with his family when he is not working with youth sports. Mr. Goodman’s family loves to vacation at the beach whenever they get an opportunity.
Upper School Resource Teacher

Lisa Scheve

Lisa is an Upper School Resource Teacher. She teaches Health, Personal Finance, Civics, Speech, and Forensic Science. Originally from the North Shore of Chicago, she
received her undergraduate degree from Trinity International University in Deerfield, IL. Lisa will complete her Master of Education in Educational Administration from Columbia
International University in the spring. She has been married to her husband Tom for 30 years and they have 1 son who is 21 years old. Lisa has been a Christian educator for 20 years and enjoys investing in the lives of young people.
Resource Teacher

Renee Badolato

Resource Teacher, Dr. Renée Badolato, N.D., Ph.D, Ph.D, M.B.A. equips students to thrive in their academic, spiritual and social environment through reinforcement of classroom concepts and providing faith-based relational support. Her Ph.D in Pastoral Counseling allows her to minister to NorthPoint students and families with practical tools to support their health and faith walk (including leading weekly Mom’s Prayer Group). Since becoming a teacher in 2001, she has gained experience in elementary through college level academics, focusing on her holistic health practice, Cultivate True Health, in recent years. She and her husband, Jim, have 4 sons; three who attend NorthPoint and a toddler who is eager to become a future Nighthawk. Her family bible verse is: Romans 8:28, “God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Her favorite hobbies include reading, learning, gardening, and weekly date nights with her husband.
Head of School

Bill Maslin

Mr. William F. Maslin is Head of School and Principal at NorthPoint Christian Academy. Before helping to launch NCA this year, Mr. Maslin served as an upper school administrator at another Christian school for the past six years. Prior to this service, he worked in public education for eighteen years. During this time, he was able to learn and grow as an educator, curriculum facilitator, and an administrator. Mr. Maslin enjoys being active outdoors and coaching young people. He feels that opportunities to serve in the mission field have grown him closer to God through service.
Director of Operations

Kimberly Maslin

Kimberly Maslin is the Director of Operations at Northpoint Christian Academy. In her role, she oversees the day-to-day operations of the school and assists with school planning. She began her career as an Elementary School teacher where she served as a classroom teacher and instructional support teacher. During this time, she also obtained her nursing degree. Over the past 13 years she has been an emergency room nurse and continues to work in the emergency department throughout each month. One interesting fact about Mrs. Maslin, is that she once tried out for the tv show, Fear Factor. She has been married to her husband, Bill for 13 years, has one son, Powell, and one Labradoodle, Fenway. Some of her hobbies include being outside, working out, running, cooking, baking, and having down time with her family.
Office Administrator

Alison Early

Alison Earley is the Office Administrator at NorthPoint Christian Academy and has been part of the team since August. Prior to NCA, Alison worked as an Office Administrator after returning to work from being a full-time stay-at-home Mom to her son, Aidan (17), and daughter Grace (15). Alison grew up in Kentucky until age 12 when her family moved to Massachusetts as her father accepted a ministry position there. Alison graduated from Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island where she earned a B.S. in Business with a concentration in Health Care Administration. Alison met her husband of 22 years in college, and they resided in RI until moving to Charlotte 11 years ago. In her spare time, Alison enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, cooking, entertaining, and photography.
Director of Student Development

Brian Wrasman

Mr. Wrasman brings his experience in youth ministry to serve as Northpoint's Director of Student Development. Wednesdays are his favorite day of the week, as he gets to spend time leading students in three chapel services. He also leads all marketing efforts for NCA, coaches the Middle School and High School Golf Teams, and serves as the President of the School Board. He and his wife, Brittni, have four children (three at Northpoint) and enjoy spending time together as a family.
